ABOUT
US
Hello, we are Brent and Wendy Harrison
(Wendy’s the Boss). We
live in Prince Edward County, just south of the City of
Belleville, ON. We’ve
been married over 30 years and breeding Labrador Retrievers since
1998. Anyone who knows us says, “Wendy deserves a medal”.
We both grew up in Montreal and met in
1974 while working at CAE Electronics where we built Flight
Simulators. Our jobs permitted us the wonderful opportunity to travel to
different parts of the world (Morocco, Netherlands, France, USA).
We still love to travel whenever possible, and look forward
to our planned trip to Australia & New Zealand to visit
relatives and friends.
We left Montreal in 1989 and purchased
a General Store in Cherry Valley, ON. just outside the Sandbanks
Provincial Park. While
growing up both our families owned different breeds of dogs,
Spaniels, Poodles, Shepherds, so having a dog under foot was
second nature for us. We
felt a dog would fit in well with a country store environment, so
we went looking for a Lab. We knew this breed to be fun, people
friendly and have a great temperament.
This was important, as our Lab would be in constant contact
with the public.
Our Vet and some friends recommended us
to a local Lab breeder. This
is when we first met Peggy Donovan at Lindenhall Kennels and
purchased our first Lab (Kodi) Lindenhall’s Kodiak Bear. This
was the beginning of a great friendship with Peggy and Wayne,
which continues today.
Kodi came into our home in October 1989
and immediately became a village star and a permanent store
fixture. He would hang his big square head over the half door between
the house and store, allowing the children to hug and pet him.
Most of the young children in town came to the store with
their parents for the penny candies and to see Kodi.
We no longer have Kodi or the store, however we still run
into some of the kids on occasion and many of them still mention
Kodi. He was a true
ambassador to the breed.
In 1996 we purchased our second Lab
Watertails Tawny, which in 1998 we bred to Sandledges Jaxon Brown
owned by Peggy. This
was our first litter and the Official beginning of Camelottails
Labradors Kennel. We
would not be where we are today if not for the years of experience
and knowledge we’ve been able to draw from other Lab breeders
since we began.
When the weather is nice we enjoy walks
on Belleville’s Waterfront trail with our Labs.
Wendy enjoys reading, quiet times and baking (The other
breeders love her cream puffs).
Brent enjoys Golf in the summer and hockey in the winter,
and tries to take our Lab Bucky with him whenever he can.
We have been members of the Canadian
Kennel Club since 1998. We
currently hold positions of Vice-President and Director of the
Eastern Ontario Labrador Breeders Association (EOLBA). We are also
members of the Labrador Owners Club of Canada.
For the last 4 years, Brent has been co-chair of the EOLBA
annual show held in conjunction with the Kingston & District
Kennel Club show.
We would like to say thank you to Peggy
and Wayne at Lindenhall Labs, Glen and Tracey at BNB Labs, Joanne
and Al at Devonsleigh Labs and all the other lab breeders that
have assisted us in various ways since we became involved with
this wonderful breed. We
honestly believe that Labrador Retrievers are truly the best breed
for any family, young or old.
